Anime Expo 2009 Report – Day 3 (4th July)

Tag: Anime,Music,My LifeInsaneLampshade @ 1:41am

Finally the day of the other autograph sessions. Got up relatively early, managed to get number 71st in line after getting there at 7am. I was pretty much guaranteed an autograph now. ^_^

After some more moving of lines around we eventually all started going in (i have to say it was far more organized this time). One item per person is what they said, but i wanted Koharu to sign the Kirarin revolution DVD cover so i just took it in too and held it underneath the other item.

Went into the autograph room, and Ai was first in line. She instantly recognised me from breakfast the other day, i told her Q.E.D was funny, she said thankyou and then i moved on. I just said thankyou to Gaki and Eri as i really couldn’t think of much to say to them.

Got to Sayu and told her she was cute as Shige-Pink, lol. She said thankyou, and just sat there holding my hand staring up at me after signing my thing. It was odd, lol, she didn’t let go for what felt like ages… just sitting there staring at me like a cute puppy that wants something. I’ll just imagine in my head she wanted to take me back home with her, lol.

Reina next, beautiful as ever.

Koharu again the same as Ai instantly recognised me from the breakfast thing the other day. I presented her with the DVD cover and told her i was at that concert. She looked a little confused at first as to what the cover was from and turned it over to look at the back page and then made that “Ohh” face. First she signed it as Koharu, then without me asking she got out another pen and signed it as Kirari too. :D Then she wanted to sign the thing that i was having everyone else sign, but thinking about the “one item per person” think i just shook her hand and said thankyou knowing that i’d see her at the next autograph session with the guarantee’d tickets. Again in this line the Japanese staff were recording me, lol. There really were hardly any Koharu fans out there. If they make a fanclub DVD of the entire event then i’ve gotta be on it somewhere, they recorded me enough, lol.

Anyway, onto the next girls. Aika, JunJun, and LinLin all recognised me from breakfast, i told LinLin she was funny, she laughed and said thankyou.

And here’s what i got signed…

(note the missing Koharu signature on it, lol, i should have just let her sign it afterall, oh well)

Next it was off to queue for the final autograph session, held in possibly the most stupid location ever; the exhibit hall. This autograph session was fast paced and everyone was told no talking to the girls or handshaking. Most of them barely had any time to look up from signing before being made to sign the next person’s stuff.

Despite the no talking rule i told Koharu that she was cool, which she seemed happy about. (she seems to appreciate being called “cool” rather than “cute” all the time)

Everyone hung out around the area waiting for it to finish… which the AX staff were not happy about, trying to get us all to leave repeatedly. But we all stayed around and sung happy birthday to Koharu and Sayu because their birthday’s are soon. I think they appreciated it as someone quickly looked out of the curtain to see the people singing. After they left we all got a wave one final time. :)

No more Morning Musume now, who knows if we’ll ever see them in person again. From what people told us after speaking to JapanFiles they said Up Front would likely send over some of the older solo members in future to do concerts outside of conventions, and not Morning Musume. Guess i should try and get to a handshaking event in Japan one day.

This was the other thing i got signed at that one:

(LinLin’s signature amuses me, looks like some sort of Egyptian heiroglyph with a strange cat thing above it, and Koharu’s is great… shooting star!)

After all that was over we wandered around the exhibit hall, and came across a Japanese band called C-ZONE doing a mini-concert (well lip-synching, but oh well). They were pretty fun, and it took the edge off of knowing Morning Musume were now gone. Quite a few of us ended up watching them… ahh we’re such idol consumers, lol.

Went to the “International House of Pancakes” to eat across the road from our hotel with some other guys… didn’t actually realise they sold proper food and not just pancakes, lol. (i did wonder why anyone would want a pancake at 3am, and why it was so packed)

Went to the brewery again and had quite a bit of booze (as can be seen by this photo of Paul from HelloBlog, lol):

Went back to hotel and slept at 2am.
