…so in-case anyone didn’t notice, yes, that ticket below was for today (well technically yesterday now), and not some random concert ticket from the 90′s as a certain person assumed, lol.
There won’t be any pictures in this short report… unless anyone happens to want a picture of some random ticker tape i stuffed into my pockets on the way out.
Anyway… my 2nd visit to the millennium dome (the first being when it was first opened, and despite everyone’s complaints i actually enjoyed it there), and a must say that O2 have done a damn good job of re-modelling the place, it’s full of shops, bars, restaurants, with the arena itself in the middle. Definitely a good place to have a concert arena.
And so i arrived there… first let me just say that i have never been surrounded by so many girls in my life… where were all the men? o.O Got there early and wanted to find food… due to the sheer amount of people there getting food from anywhere would require a long wait, so i queued up at the most empty place i could find and grabbed a pasty. Then queued up to get into the arena, at which point they took my pasty and threw it in the bin….. WTF o.o!! Apparently no food is allowed inside… why surround the bloody place with food if you’re not allowed to take it in, there weren’t even any signs anywhere to inform you… i was well hungry and i paid for that too. *cries* T_T
Inside was very nice, pretty much about the same as the arena at AX… but with more seating higher up, and generally looking in a better state of repair (not that the AX arena place wasn’t, just that this is newer). My 4th row seat had me positioned nice and close to the front, and pretty damn close to what was apparently the VIP seating area. i.e. David Beckham & children were a couple of metres away, lol (along with several other misc celebrities… Gareth Gates, Nicki Chapman, some fashion designer person, some other random people i had no idea who but everyone else seemed to know etc. etc.). As i didn’t particularly have any interest in any of them i didn’t bother attempting to speak to them or get autographs, but it was nice to know i was in high quality company, lol. (i do seem to have a knack… or is that “luck”… for getting decent concert ticket seats, lol)
Anyway yes, the actual concert, pretty good, not the best concert i’ve ever been to, and the crowd were pretty flat. Half the crowd spent the entire time filming the concert on their phones or taking pictures instead of having fun, i mean who goes to a concert to spend it looking down a camera lens, idiots.
As for the songs, no miming as far as i could tell, lol, they played Stop 2nd… it being my favourite song of theirs i would have preferred it later on, but oh well, lol. Surprisingly Gerri Halliwell’s solo of “It’s Raining Men” was probably the best song of the night, it certainly got the crowd going. The only other thing was they didn’t really say much, probably totalled less than 10 sentences from them throughout the whole night, it was just song after song, needs more MC’ing! Admittedly their costumes were pretty good, and they had plenty of them, lol, almost one per song, including the infamous Union Jack dress.
Overall as i said, pretty good, but the crowd were pretty lame (along with the pasty stealing security guard). I think maybe i’ve been spoilt by Momoi concerts, lol, a concert without any crowd chanting or interaction just feels empty now (now looking forward to Feb 2008 for more Japanese concerts!).
