Auchinawa con report time!

(yes, it’s a hat, and no, i still have no idea what Space Prison exactly is, fun people though)
Seeing as it was my first time in Scotland i might aswell give first impressions of the place. The train journey was as follows; “Oooh, pretty countryside… oh wait, we’re still in England. (the lake district)”, *cross border* “Hmm, those dark clouds suddenly appeared, that can’t be good.” *continues looking outisde window* “Uhh… abandoned factory… abandoned factory… abandoned factory… abandoned warehouse… glasgow central station”.
So yeah, my first impressions of Glasgow… “WTF are these people doing with their city? The whole place is falling apart. O.O”
So, anyway, on to the convention:
Thursday
Arrived at hotel, checked in, hotel is falling apart, wouldn’t look out of place in silent hill. Worked way up to opening ceremony, blah blah, safety, here’s the events… dealers room, anime screenings, panels, quiz, auction… “Hey, where’s the guy that spent all that money on towels??”. Yeah, they made me stand up and gave me a round of applause, lol.
Dumped stuff in rooms, went to register, badge is nice but not as good as Amecon’s, (mostly because it’s a boy, lol):

Looked at the event list, uhh… nothing happening until the evening, umm, ok, we’ll just go get drunk then. And so we did. When the party that night finally started there were literally less than 10 people dancing, so we gave up and found some other people to sit with and stay drunk, lol.
Friday
Woke up, went to wagamama’s for breakfast(lunch), came back went to see the webcomic panel with Scott Ramsoomair and the Chugworth Academy guys. Went to the dealers room to find stuff to buy, walked out with the amazing hat pictured above. ^_^ Then wandered around doing nothing until the next event a few hours later. >_> The omake with skits and stuff, well, pretty much no-one had anything pre-prepared so almost everyone made up something on the spot, nothing amazingly funny.
The AMV party was the last thing of the night, more people were dancing, was pretty fun, then someone decided it’d be a good idea for everyone to drink a load of tequila, yeah, between like 6 people we cleared out 2 bars bottles of tequila. Ugh, we were not happy the next day.
Saturday
Woke up, tried to find people i knew, had no luck, they were all still dead from the night before, lol. Ended up having breakfast(lunch) and sitting outside the games room on pictochat for hours.
Eventually someone i knew showed up and we ended up wandering to Jan Scott Frasier’s panel, to be honest we had no idea who she was, but we were bored. Actually i’m still not 100% sure, the panel didn’t really answer anything. All we figured out was that she’s a female chuck norris. The panel just consisted of elaborate stories about the Dalai Lama, The Terminator, the Chinese army, drugged up stories about acid trips at various US conventions, and killing mutant cobras with uzi’s. Uhh, suffice to say that was the funniest panel i’ve ever been to despite not knowing who she was, or what was going on (i think they were all true stories too).
After that we sat through the masquerade, then wandered around some more until the anime party started. Yet again, almost no-one dancing. >_> Plus point of the night, i met someone i knew on a forum and got taken on a free tour of Glasgow (yes… at 1am in the pouring rain, lol).
Sunday
The final day, went to the games room, stayed there until the auction. Queued to get into the auction. They had no towels, in fact (no offence) but most of what was on offer was junk, stuff that wasn’t sold from the dealers room basically. And the only decent item (a hello kitty yukata) didn’t sell because everyone was too tight. >_>
Then it was the closing ceremony, blah blah, thankyou, blah, time to leave.
Overall, not bad for Scotland’s first convention, i’d go again depending on who is there. There weren’t that many events, and a lot of standing around doing nothing. Needs more people dancing though! >_>
Other misc things that need mentioning. Everyone knows the legendary GrantM right? Well, i got his autograph:

And one final word of warning about Glasgow, never never ask for a hamburger at a fish and chip shop, hamburger clearly means something else in Glasgow. What i received had no bun, no lettuce, no nothing. All i got was a deep fried slab of meat covered with salt and vinegar. O.O
