5th in the world to complete Defender on Xbox Live!

Tag: Anime,Misc,My LifeInsaneLampshade @ 1:11am

Yay, go me!

Defender came out last week (one of the arcade games i’ve been waiting for since it was announced a while back. And this weekend i was working hard to complete all 12 achievements for it, and low and behold (after a lot of swearing for several hours at the last two achievements) it turns out that i was the 5th person in the world to get them all (out of about 10,000 people that have played it according to mygamercard.net, the actual number of players is probably slightly higher though). As of right now my highest score is 49th in the world, i’m ranked 27th at xbox live versus mode, and 58th highest score in co-op mode. I feel i’ve had a productive weekend! :D

And now for something more wholesome… Megami… i love you… <3

Megami-Win

That Haruhi poster has gotta be the best Megami poster i’ve seen! And the Nanoha stand pop thing (yes i did stick Nanoha on the back despite it saying you’re only meant to have 1 on it)… i think i have no more room for stand pop’s. >_>

I haven’t bought much this month it seems (which is always a good thing). Volume 4 of Haruhi, bonus wasn’t that great, just a photoshoot, and Nekoman pics. The cover was of Emiri Kimidori (the computer club president’s supposed girlfriend). We damn well better get Tsuruya-san on the cover of one otherwise there could be another “bones in the post” incident! ;)

(yes i was too lazy to take a photo myself)

What else have a bought… well after a weekend of Para Para (sidenote: first weekend in ages i got a chance to bitch about Nintendo to someone, lol) i decided to buy the PS2 game and controller myself… and damn these ebay’ers are quick these days… 4 days to get here from Japan. O.O

ParaPara-Win

Obviously the sensor isn’t perfect, but it’s still fun… i’ve learnt Ale’ Japan off by heart, and am currently learning Play with the numbers and one other with an odd name that i can’t remember o.O ahh… i do love Para Para music!

And finally… i bet you all thought Mr Habanero was dead didn’t you? Well despite me only watering it about once in the last month, and it being freezing cold and lacking sunshine outside it’s still growing well (although has shedded leaves), in fact it seems to be growing a few more peppers, lol.

And it seems i have some actual studying to do in addition to working now… MCDBA exams. >_< Oh well... i guess i get another certificate and cheap badge out of it, lol.

The month of epic stories!

Tag: Anime,Misc,My LifeInsaneLampshade @ 15:43pm

The past month or so i’ve pretty much been stuffing my head with reading, lol, i was gonna write about each one individually, but then it got too late and i couldn’t be bothered, so i’ll just briefly sum up everything i’ve read recently here:

Kokoro by Natsume Soseki – A rather melancholic outlook on life, humans inherently do selfish things etc. The story revolves about this guy and his relationship with the person he looks up to… “sensei” as he is referred to throughout the novel. While short, the whole thing flows extremely well, and feels somewhat like a rather long poem with deeper meaning.

Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami – The story is split into two alternating parts, one following a young boy who has run away from home trying to escape the prophesy his father has left him. The other part following an old man who has been left mentally handicapped (the plus side is he can now talk to cats) following a mysterious accident when he was younger. The two parts of the story never directly meet, but rather intertwine with each other. There are many mysteries, and not all of them are resolved directly. Beautiful storytelling that makes you think a lot after you’ve read it.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – While not directly a book, it certainly feels like an epic read. So much attention to detail in the immense back story, i’d be impressed if anyone ever actually read everything there is to read in the Elder Scrolls universe. Great fun (not to mention those damn hard dungeons >_>)!

Ever 17 – Well what can i say, this should be listed in the dictionary definition of Epic. Words can’t really express how great this was, little clues leading up all the way to the big climax, and even then you were still guessing some things right up until the end. Complete and utter genius, a total masterpiece of storytelling, everyone needs to read through this. ***WE NEED MORE OF THESE TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH***

Ever 17

Anyone have any recommendations of any visual novels that have been translated (fan or otherwise) into English that are of the wondrous nature of Ever 17? :D
