YAY!!! I finally got SAMBA working on my home network (it wasn’t as hard as i first thought…i upgraded to the latest version, and all went smoothly, i guess the rpm package on the mandrake cd was some old broken version or something).
Has anyone else noticed how my “site” over the past year has gradually turned into a blog…oh well.
Seeing as i have nothing else to talk about right now…let me just say that honey is amazingly under-appreciated by people, if the only honey you’ve purchaced is the cheapo £1.99 pots of “runny honey” then you are missing out! There are so many different flavours of honey out there, ranging from the hyper-sweet to aniseed and more, it’s not hard to find something to your taste. So get out there and try some random honey flavours!!
“You can trace the causes of things infinitely, or else you come to a first cause. But is there a first cause – a creator – or is there not? Obviously if there is not then he can’t create anything. And if there is, he himself is spontaneously self-created. Either way, all things emerge spontaneously. Stuff just keeps happening. Everything emerges in an uncontrolled improvisation, whether there is a creator or not. Nothing, therefore, is commanded by anything else. That’s the truth.”
This quote answers everything! No need to keep arguing about the existance of god, it doesn’t matter if there is one or not, it’s irrelevant… case closed!I assume everyone heard the news about Naruto getting licensed? (if not…where were you people, it spread everywhere on the internet within a couple of hours of the press release) Now, is this good news, or bad news for Naruto fans, on the one hand it means they’ll be able to buy dvd’s with English subtitles legally (altough god knows how many dvd’s 120+ episodes will take up), but on the other hand, the dub will be shown on cartoon network in america, which leads to the question of cuts (judging by cartoon network’s previous track record with cutting things from anime series they show). P.S. for anyone that’s interested…Howl’s Moving Castle is average at best, it’s certainly not as good as Spirited Away/Princess Mononoke etc.
Also, it looks like my internet connection will be getting upgraded in April to 8Mbit download and 1Mbit upload (for free i think, acording to my isp…they’re changing the pricing so that instead of paying for how fast your line is, you pay for how much you download, and from the prices they’ve posted so far, it all looks pretty cheap
). We’re still kinda a bit behind Japan (and the rest of the world for that matter…apart from America…we’re ahead of America in terms of speed…but not price) with it’s 100Mbit lines!
And finally…i managed to get my linux pc and windows 2k pc networked…so i can use the internet on both at the same time, yay! Filesharing between pc’s was more of a hassle to set up though, and i had to give up on installing SAMBA…just too much work. But, bittorrent to the rescue, i found out that the internal tracker in Azureus works on a LAN as well as the internet, so i’m using that to transfer large files. I bet you’ve never seen a bittorrent download going at 125 MB per second before (yes…125 MB per second…if that were internet speeds i’d be able to download a typical 175 MB anime episode in less than 2 seconds!! Or a 26 episode series in 36 seconds!)
Did anyone watch the superbowl? Well, i did, and i have a couple of questions…
- Why did one of the referee’s have “BJ” written on his back…was he advertising?
- There was a huge sign saying “Bud Zone” over one section of the crowd…do the Americans have a seperate smoking area for pot smokers?
- I would ask about the player with “GAY” written on his back, but that one’s obvious……he just wanted to let everyone know.
In other news… Puni Puni Poemi passed the Birtish censors, with no cuts!!!! (though it did get an 18 rating)
Also, is anyone else slightly scared by the new particle accelerator being built at the CERN place in France… they’re claiming that once it’s finished they’ll be able to create “mini black holes”, am i the only person that thinks this is highly dangerous??!! We know hardly anything about black holes, what’s to say that a mini black hole won’t grow and swallow our planet or something??!
